Freud had some following in philosophy, but more importantly in psychiatry and in general culture, influencing many writers, all of which is unfortunate, because he was a charlatan: a fraud, as in nomen est omen, and his claims, teachings and practices were harmful to many, and to the development of a psychiatry with a real scientific foundation.
