Sigmund
Freud: 1856-1939: Austrian
medical doctor, founder of psycho-analysis, a pseudo-scientific approach to
psychology and psychiatry, based on Freud's tenets about the
unconscious, which Freud is on record as,
falsely, claiming to have discovered. Freud had some following in
philosophy, but more importantly in psychiatry and in general culture,
influencing many writers, all of which is unfortunate, because he was a
charlatan: a fraud, as in nomen est omen, and his claims, teachings and practices were harmful to many, and
to the development of a psychiatry with a real scientific foundation.
