ME + me : Mandarins with an IQ
of 115
|
Spiegeloog-columns
“The most utterly lost
of all days is that
on which you have
not once laughed.”
-- Chamfort
|
I keep being unwell so I did another
translation of a
small essay I wrote and published
originally in Dutch in 1989, which is
quite topical, as may be seen - at least for
those who know a little about modern Europe
and present day Holland - and that shows me
in true prophetic mood, back then:
1. The prophet and the
prophecy
2. The thing prophecied
3. What does WW II have
to do with it?
Incidentally, unlike virtually anybody else
who wrote about politics, education, science
or education in Holland the last 35 years, I
can leave everything standing as is, because
I then wrote the truth, as now is becoming
clear even to some of the clogged minds that
are Dutch.
1. The prophet and the
prophecy
The Nederlog of today moves back all of 21
years, to the month of January of 1989, when
I published my "Mandarijntjes
met een IQ van 118" which is in English "Mandarins
with an IQ of 115" in "Spiegeloog",
which was the monthly of the faculty of
psychology, where I wrote a monthly column
at the time.
A few days ago I gave my translation of the
essay that followed it "Real
science & real psychology = joy"
to which I still have to provide the notes.
This is its immediate predecessor and much
more critical, and indeed "Mandarins" refers
to the Chinese top bureaucracy and leading
intellectuals, for a reason that will be
clear soon enough.
It still seems excellent to me -
yes, I am not a humble man -
and again is "typically me". It should also
clarify why I was so much hated in the
University of Amsterdam - and please
remember I wrote and published this in
january 1989, in the eleventh year of
having ME, and did so because I was much
worried about what I had received as
"academic education".
I have made the most prophetic bits blue in
the following prophetic text of 21 years
ago, before Allan Bloom, before Alan Sokal,
before Norman Levitt:
|
Mandarins with an IQ of 115
[1]
I have been told in the
Psychological Lab[2]
that the average IQ of Dutch
students is 115 now. I am
willing to believe it. So called
academics with a postmodern
intellect, that in
pre-postmodern days was fit for
the MULO = More Extended Primary
Education level, but that these
days is sufficient to belong to
the intellectual elite of
society.
The MULO was a school type that
was intended for future
bookkeepers, bureaucrats and
small traders: Every shopkeeper
was supposed to acquire a
middleclass diploma[3],
and the MULO was the proper way.
It was education for the simpler
sort of middleclass folks. These
days, the thinking power that is
required to be a succesful
grocer or a valued bookkeeper is
the average thinking power that
is required for the highest type
of Dutch education. I think that
is frightening.
And no: I do not believe that a
high IQ is a real warrant for
having a really good intellect.
But it is an adequate measure
and predictor of success in
schools and universities, and it
is highly correlated with
academic achievement: Top
universities in the USA require
an IQ not far from 150 to be a
success there. So it is not
meaningless at all, because it
is a good indicator of the
intellectual level of education
(that cannot be higher than the
average student can handle) and
of of the intellectual level of
society (that cannot be higher
than that of the average
intellectual).
For in fact everywhere those
who have the highest education
do get the highest jobs, that
is: the functions in society in
which individuals have most
power or most influence over
their fellow human beings; that
have the highest status; and
that are paid best - doctors,
lawyers, engineers and
scientists of all kinds.
Such as M.A.-degreed
psychologists, for example,
capable of deciding matters of
life and wellbeing of people
with problems. With the insight,
the knowledge, the thinking
power, the intellectual talent
of a shopkeeper or clerk. On
average 115 miserable IQ-points
and the total absence of a
bright intellect that is implied
thereby.
Frightening, as I said.
The
result will be what can be
seen now, after some 25 years
of postmodern levelling
education: [4]
Moronic academics; complete,
half and threequarter
charlatans as Masters of Art
in psychology or sociology;
academically titled
pseudo-intellectuals who
hardly know foreign languages
and claim to be "too busy" to
read; who cannot write, and do
not speak good Dutch (of the
kind of honourable Members of
Parliament - an asylum filled
with selfenamoured yahoos that
unfortunately has room for
only a few hundred
minibrains); semi-scientific
but heavily subsidized
research that never yields
anything but above average
incomes for "scientists" of
very average grocerly brains,
and unreadable research
reports in awful bureaucratic
cant "to help the feminist
movement, the trade union
movement, and the
environmental movement" (as
the central aims of the
University of Amsterdam were
for many years) - in brief,
The Netherlands will be
governed by corrupt mandarins
with an average IQ of 115. And
the usual hypocritical
impostures and backhanded
greed, that is to say "in the
name of our exemplary Dutch
dumbocray, sorry: democracy".
Nothing
new? Real science will become
even rarer than it is, in an
atmosphere filled with
tenthousands, possinly
hundreds of thousands Masters
of Art of minimal brainsize
and maximal greed - for an
average IQ of 115 does not
precisely exclude greed,
ambition, intrigue and that
delicious
species-searches-species trade
unionist mentality).
The
cultural level of societies
will sink until public
mediawhores on the dreambox
can move the population to any
form of unreason. Public
gangsters, frauds, parasites
and eagerly upcoming dictators
will be left free to do as
they please - and the only
social group that could have
opposed them with rational
arguments based on real
knowledge and understanding of
human civilization, will have
been reduced to a set of
stammering know-nothings,
precisely of the level of
people's parlementarians there
is already.
Nothing
new, I ask again? No, indeed:
Virtually the only thing we do
not have yet is a populist
would-be dictator that abuses
the opportunity. For we have
had already 25 years of
postmodern education. And we
live in moronified
society, that moronifies
further incessantly.
Thanks to the
present so called academic
elite, that has let it happen
while they parasited upon it:
The present generation of
university professors and
lecturers. Après vous le
déluge, quoi? [5]
|
[1] In fact, I was told the
average IQ was 118, and wrote so originally
in the published Dutch text, that is
reproduced on my site. As I soon after
publication found out it was in fact 115, I
made the change in my translation.
[2]
The faculty of psychology at the time was in
a building that, because of its looks, had
been styled The Coffin by the Amsterdam
population, while the Politically Correct
term in the university was "The
Psychological Lab", about as true a
falsification of reality as was "people's
democratic state" for Stalin's Russia. I
usually referred to it in conversation as
The Psychotic Lab.
[3]
In fact, this is terminologically quite
correct: Retailers, grocers, bakers,
butchers etc. were in Dutch referred to as
"middenstand" that translates as "middle
class", incidentally a term that covers
about everybody in modern Western society,
at least in aspiration: The members of the
lower class conceive of themselves as lower
middle class, to improve their standing in
their own eyes; the members of the upper
class like to be seen as upper middle class
to achieve more tax cuts and cheaper
insurance; and the rest just knows it is
middle class because that is safe,
reputable, cosy and conformist.
[4]
In The Netherlands this systematic levelling
of education started around 1965.
It's also
interesting that it was combined with an
upgrading of terminology: Suddenly every
type of school after primary school was
called "College"; many children of 6
when examined were said to take a "tentamen",
before reserved for examinations of
university students; every person taking any
education after 16 or 18 was said to "study"
and to be "a student", again terms
before reserved for university students;
intelligence was said to be unimportant and
"a matter of choice"; everybody who
dared to insist that not all human beings
were equally talented in all respects was
immediately accused of being "elitarian";
and everything was justified by the
insistence, also by Parliamentary Majority,
that all human beings, or at least those in
The Netherlands, were "equivalent"
("gelijkwaardig" = "of equal value").
Indeed, the
last was put forward seriously and with
great moral feeling in front of Srebrenica,
by the Dutch Commander, also with
governmental backing:
"There
are no good men.
There are no bad
men.
Mladic
is my colleague.
Please don't
shoot the piano
player."
-- Dutch
Troopleader
Lt.-col. Karremans
to general Mladic
in front of Srebrenica
Result: Many
thousands cruelly
murdered
- who Karremans
was sent to
protect |
Dutch morals
and moral equivalence of all human beings in
practice.
[5]
Which is French and translates as "After you
the flood, what?" - which indeed precisely
was and is the attitude of these academic
intellectually incompetent morally
non-existent class of postmodern academic
parasites that undid and ruined the Western
universities and schools within one
generation, mostly for reasons of insane
postmodern neo-marxist neo-feminist
ideological idiocies, delusions and utopian
plans.
2. The thing prophecied:
The Dutch political Aryan hairpaint freak
(*):

It's time to put
the undeserving, improperly
faithful, ill dressed and racially impure
in camps
(again)

3. What does WW II have to
do with it?
Well, if you must ask... the above
gentleman wants to lock up 20 million
European citizens "in camps" "to send them on
transport", namely for having the wrong
religion, type of beard, hairpaint, or
religion, which is just a little over 3
times as much as hardly 65 years
ago did not survive such "camps" and
such "transports".
At present 1 in 5
of the Dutch electorate is much in favour of
this freak. Perhaps time to put them in camps,
to ascertain civil peace and prevent mass
murder, since 1.5 million is rather a lot less
than 20 million?
And if you do not
know history, then you will be forced to
repeat it - and the Dutch have for over a
generation, proudly, on purpose, withheld the
teaching of history in schools, indeed like
most other things for, they proudly held, "the
computer can do it for you, so there is no
need to learn it".
In any case, here
is some relevant information, indeed by way of
your computer:
Anyway.... see: Why my
family was in The Dutch
Resistance in WW II (something
I am not allowed to explain on American forums
for patients with ME, where the owners,
administrators and moderators prefer
anti-semites on the one forum and
neurasthenic Nietzscheans on the other,
and censor me because I argue too well
and am not as uneducated and ill writing as
most, and also evidently not a troll).
And In any case:
if those are the manner of arguments used
against me, who is in fact one of the few
patients with ME whose site does prove he is
what he says that he is; who has ME since 32
years, with a medical diagnosis by
specialists; who is a psychologist and
philosopher in terms of academic degrees; and
who can write, then my own conclusion must be
that, in all probability, and very much unlike
me, not only intellectually and morally, the
majority of the administrators and moderators
of these ME-forums are other than they
say they are.
For else I cannot
explain why I have been discriminated time and
again, in such a beastly fashion.
|
P.S. Maybe I should remark for those
who do not know the Dutch that the above "Mandarins
with an IQ of 115" again came in for a
lot of criticism, namely from the majority of
students with an IQ of 115 (now professors,
lecturers or leading journalists) and
from the majority of the staff, who felt
much offended, though nearly anyone of those
who discussed with me very soon found that my IQ
is not 115, and theirs as well might be if
it wasn't.
This is also the reason I am never answered,
replied, received or phoned: In Amsterdam,
both the City of Amsterdam and the University
of Amsterdam for decades refuse to engage with
me in my claims, and no or hardly any Dutchman
cares, for I am not a lover of soccer, modern
Dutch civilization, TV, music or literature
and therefore, as far as the majority
is concerned, not a proper human
being at all, and not entitled to be protected
by such laws as hold on paper in Holland, and
in fact in the none too far future the third
generation to be send to a camp in Holland, no
doubt again by Dutch judges and a Dutch court,
very probably as "a political terrorist",
"because of your published ideas", and just like my father and
grandfather in 1941.
Those who are looking forward fondly and
impatiently to my notes to Real
science & real psychology = joy
have to have a little patience.
And I myself am looking forward fondly and
impatiently to dr. Alter's paper, and
predict confidently that it will change
things in ME-land, whether it is basically
unaltered in implications (as seems the
probability) or whether it is altered in
implications.
P.P.S. It may
be I have to stop Nederlog for a while. The
reason is that I am physically not well at
all. I don't know yet, but if there is no
Nederlog, now you know the reason.

As to ME/CFS (that I prefer to
call ME):
Short descriptions:
1. Ten reasons why ME/CFS is a
real disease by a professor of medicine of
Harvard.
2. Long essay by a professor emeritus of
medical chemistry about maltreatment of ME.
3. Explanation of what's happening around ME
by an investigative journalist.
4. Report to Canadian Government on ME, by
many medical experts.
5. Advice to psychiatrist by a psychiatrist
who understands ME is an organic disease
6. English mathematical genius on one's
responsibilities in the matter of one's
beliefs:

is wrong always, everywhere, and for
anyone, to believe anything upon
insufficient evidence".

"Ah
me! alas, pain, pain
ever, forever!
No change, no pause, no

I ask the Earth, have not
the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the
all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea,
in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing
Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not
heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain
ever, forever!"

(*) I'm sorry, but I am a
psychologist: A dutch man who paints is hair
like this has issues. It's not that he is not
allowed to, or that at another time or place
this may be a very manly and normal thing to
do - it's that he chooses to stand out thus,
and that nobody else does. And even if this is
calculated to attract attention, it is a
strange and freakish view, if you pardon my
psychologist's French.
