Crisis: "Crap of the highest order" + WikiLeaks alt site

I continue being not well, and otherwise also as before, so I cannot do much, and today I will only say a few things about the ongoing social and political crisis in the West; link in a few interesting videos; and write briefly about Wikileaks, for which I give - foreigners should be interested! - a Dutch mirror, that is probably easier to access and more difficult to shut down than its original counterpart.

1. Crisis

To start with a minor point: As regular readers may have noticed, "ME + me:" is absent from my title. Here is why: I started in september 2008 a series that I soon called "Crisis:". It is all in Dutch, with an index here:

The first file in that index is of September 1, 2009 and the last of January 8, 2010, after which most of NL turned to ME + me and to English.

Altogether, there are over 80 files, quite a few of which can be declared to be, after the facts, quite perceptive - as indeed I was the first in Holland to mention either Keynes or Marx to my knowledge, for by the beginning of September 2008 everything was still supposed and said to be hunky-dory in the Dutch economy, and neither the politicians, nor the bureaucrats nor the journalists seemed to see anything coming, and indeed lampooned anyone who said there might.

I did see something going on and coming that looked a lot like a major economical crisis and started writing about it then and today will write a little more - after noting that

  • by now the crisis is deeper than ever;
  • it extends to the whole Western world;
  • it has not at all been solved by the Obama-government;
  • it has by now extended to the political plane (e.g. with the Teaparty in the US and with Wilders' group - that is: the xenophobic freak with the Aryan hairdo - in the Netherlands; the influence of hardly sane rabblerousers like Beck and Limbaugh in the US, whose backers are probably also behind the Teaparty and Wilders, and more);
  • and it shows no real signs of abating at all,
  • while the national debts keep rising and rising in all Western states;
  • and the bankers still are being paid insane sums of money for merely having the good grace of being bankers, and
  • hardly anything has been done to limit the abilities of banks and bankmanagers to fuck up whole national economies for satisfying their private greed - again.
  • So: Regulate, regulate, regulate - before the whole ship of fools goes down from the greed of the financial conmen no parliament and no government seems to want to tie to such regulations as have worked under capitalism for decades on end.

Having made these elementary points, let's turn to a consideration of a lot of...

2. "Crap of the highest order"

As I have said before, I like TYT aka The Young Turks. This is a daily - weekdays - newsshow from the US with an intelligent anchorman, Cenk Uygur (Turkish descend, whence the name), where the news is brought and commented honestly and intelligently.

Here is Uygur in angry mood:

It is about journo Lowenstein's write-up of the virtually superhuman manly and mental and moral excellencies of JP Morgan Chase & Company's CEO Jamie Dimon.

As Uygur says

"We don't do journalism in this country anymore. We do ... I am trying to remain calm, so I am not saying it, except that I wouldn't call it journalism. OK?"

Indeed, but it is clear he means that Dimon gets a verbal journo blow job from Lowenstein: The least it is, is a lot of totally undeserved praise by a hysterically licking doormat, a willing writing slave, paid to praise and praise and praise.

You find the article linked under the above videolink when you open it and you can judge for yourself, if thus inclined.

Most of the points I might want to make I made already above, but indeed it is fair that almost everyone on whom the running and going on of society and civilization have been systematically corrupted over the last decades:

  • nearly all of education - schools and universities on all levels, in nearly all fields - have gone down, and down and down and down, in the hallowed names of "democracy", "equal chances" and "anti-elitarianism", with the consequence that the majority of the academical qualified now has the intellectual level and the knowledge (if bright enough!) that a minor bookkeeper had 40 or more years ago

  • nearly all politicians have sold out to "lobbyists" i.e. can be bought by the highest corporate bidder, and anyway are in it for the money (British parliamentarians, in the mother of all parliaments, shown to be a den of thieves, grabbers and frauds)

  • nearly all journalists are lobbyists writing for the pay of politicians or corporations and ceased doing investigative journalism or critical writing based on rational principles rather than fashionable cant....... and so...

  • the leaders of big corporations, banks, and NGOs have come to see that, in the climate of corruption that has grown up over the past 40 years, people in their positions, with their available cash, and with all regulations removed, can do anything they please as they can buy almost anyone they please, whether politician, bureaucrat or journalist - and in consequence take home 10, 20, 30 or more millions a year, as if any banker of manager could conceivably be 50, 100, 150 or more times as talented as a genius in physics or mathematics or music, and proportionally worth in money (<- link to Aristotle + me on justice: YES, it is relevant!)

And then we have arrived again at Jamie Dimon (Greek: "devil") and his loving, caring, licking journo slave Lowenstein.

3. WikiLeaks - now also in Holland

Anybody who follows anything of "the news" in the media must have learned that the owner of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, has been arrested in England; that his supposed crime is that in Sweden he slept with two women without using a condom, which - the news I heard said - "is explained by the fact that in Sweden folks are so feminist that this counts as rape, just as the customer of a prostitute counts as a criminal, instead of the other way around"; and that Assange's real crime or "crime" is that he published a whole lot of secret documents of the US government, including secret reports from US ambassadors.

The documents are still being published, and while both the US government and the crazy grandees of the GOP cry shame respectively ask for Assange's execution (!), so far I have heard little the US government should be much ashamed about, and much that suggests that its diplomatic service is much less of a bunch of blockheads as may be suggested by official diplomatic announcements and sayings.

Whether Assange has committed any crime - indeed whether e.g. The Guardian and the NY Times have committed any crime by printing some of these documents - is a moot question, that depends on what is in the publicly released secret documents, but so far I have seen no evidence that he has behaved in any way a good journalist should not.

However, the question is whether Assange stands much of a chance on a fair trial if he were to face a US judge, notably because, as I said, the grandees of the GOP have gone totally overboard:

The above link is again a TYT item and ought to be frightening if you care for a free state or for real journalism: Somebody who as a journalist prints information Newt Gingrich doesn't like is called, by Newt, "information-terrorist", as if that is self-evident, while Bill O'Reilly and Mike Huckaby publicly demand his "execution".

That sounds pretty insane, executing a foreign journalist, because he published documents someone else stole, and that so far have not led to any known death or problem, quite unlike the actions of many US citizens who are bankmanagers, and whose perfidity, corruption and greed must meanwhile have driven thousands into suicide and millions into poverty.

Anyway... here are two links (maybe one and the same) to a Dutch mirror of Wikileaks:

This by the Dutch group Geenstijl.nl, who drift somewhere between libertarianism US-style and neo-conservatism, and who are judged by many to be "radical" or "too radical" in the language they use.

I don't mind the language, although I do mind the intellects of many of those who react to them, that suggests the Neanderthalians didn't die out but survived in Holland, and that suggests also - didn't something like that happen in Germany, not so very long ago? - that giving the vote to any adult simply because of adulthood, irrespective of education and intelligence, is a certain-sure recipe for a totalitarian takeover, but at least it is better or less nauseous than the tepid anti-septic governmental and bureaucratic lies one gets to hear and see daily, that not only are gross lies but are also nearly always extra-ordinarily condescending in a totally new way: You hear a political a bureacratic IQ of ca. 85 condescend and talk to "Our Proud Nation" by talking at them as if they are a bunch of morons with IQs of 60. This is an eerie but daily Dutch experience, if you happen to have an IQ over 100 and live in Holland: A governmental moron of a little over half your IQ - Sharon Dijksma! Mariette Hamer! - is addressing the democratic masses in the accents, tones and terms as if the masses are all total idiots and know nothing at all, so that a Mariette Hamer (former parliamentary Labour Leader!) made speeches, like an ape, in which every other phrase was "Yis vee kan" - and the rest ill-phrased ill-pronounced cant.

But OK... that is part of the daily disgust that comes with living in a country that for 40 years has been very proud to level and bring down everyone to the level of the least or the most common, and to insist that everyone who resisted that insane levelling must be "a fascist", "a terrorist" and "an elitarian".

For those who are happy enough to live in slightly less leveled territories, it may be helpful to know they can find WikiLeaks also in Holland, by the above link(s) - although I should add that I only checked that the links work, and not whether the claim that it is a mirror is correct, though - for the moment - I suppose it is.

P.P.S. It may be I have to stop Nederlog for a while. The reason is that I am physically not well at all. I don't know yet, but if there is no Nederlog, now you know the reason.

    "Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!
