ME + me : More ME- and other videos

"The mild and the long-suffering may suffer forever in this world. As long as the patient will suffer, the cruel will kick."
     -- Sidney Smith
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
    -- Edmund Burke
"A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury."
-- John Stuart Mill, On Liberty

I am still not well at all and also still sad, and it is very warm with days of "tropical temperatures" both present and announced, and I do not handle that well at all, what with ME, but then I use the occasion to view and listen to videos - which I don't do often, because most videos I find slow, boring or uninteresting, and hardly ever instructive, whatever the subject (*), and therefore I generally prefer reading over TV or video, also because I read much faster than people can talk.

In weather as I am living through now, I am not capable of doing much, but I can watch videos on the internet, which is what did, from which I select some things some people without ME and some people with ME may find interesting, helpful or funny.

1. me:
2. ME:
3. The Ultimate Machine:

1. me:

I wrote several times about The Young Turks, which is an American news- and entertainment-program I like because it is intelligent, funny and mostly makes sense to me. Here is a recent promotional video of and for them, which gives a fair representation of what TYT is like:

As you will find, if you look and check out some other links, this is a fair if a bit fast-paced overview of TYT, which turns mostly around Cenk Uygur, who indeed is of Turkish descent. But there are more people involved in TYT, and indeed here is a good potted history:

The other main presenter of TYT at present is Ana Kasparian, who is of Armenian descent, funny and smart, easy to look at, possessed of a most astounding wardrobe and quite a nice laugh, who in the following bit almost goes ballistic:

I like TYT and while they are bright they are not rich, but even so, they seem to have fun doing what they think is worthwile

(Not really: It provides chances. But this you knew already. The video is instructive though, also about TYT.)

2. ME:

As it happens, I had until today never seen any moving pictures of professors Wessely, White, Chalder and Sharpe, of British pseudo-scientific infamy, and was rather curious, since so far I had to judge these characters from their public writings.

Well... today I did, though there is not much available, and here is an important reason why:

Wessely very much makes the impression of a very weak character, which - of course - goes very well in fact with being a frightful sadist.

And the footage is from that conference where, for me at least, he drove in the last nail in my diagnosis of: Here we have a MEdical sadist, namely where Wessely went out of his way to hurt and denigrate the family of private Farr, falsely accused of cowardice in WW I (not II, reader), and shot by a British fire squad on military commanders' orders, after a ridicously unfair 'trial'.

According to professor Simon Wessely, Farr was shot by people who had a far better grasp of appropriate norms and values than those living today, always excepting professor Wessely and the top of the British military establishment, and Farr was deservedly shot for being a wimp (projection, if you ask me) while his descendants deserve no apology whatsoever by those living today.

The following are my own assessment from April, after learning of Wessely's stance on Farr:

Here is Wessely in 1996, a bit younger and even wimpier, in a TV-report that is - except for the person with ME in it - composed from beginning till end of misrepresentations, lies and falsifications:

And here is a satirical compilation (!) of bits from filmed lectures of professors Peter White - who clearly studied psychiatry because his nose is Pinokkian genetically - and who looks like a pinheaded freak; professor Trudy Calder (the ugly fat extraordinarily stupid cow with the big glasses) aka the Ilse Koch from the British medical world, who got promoted from a nurse to a professor, presumably because she kicks so well and hard while maintaining discipline with GET, but who looks and talks like a Neanderthalian moron; Clare Gerada, just having briefly returned from the Lyubyanka or other cellar  where she gets and gives her real kicks, seen trying to get more sadism in while lying atrociously; Dr. Tylee, clearly of the Gerada tribe, sucking up to Ilse Koch Calder, while lying horribly, and several more postmodern British psychiatric lunatics:

Notice that the above is a compilation, but it is adequate in showing that the abovementioned main players in the British ME word are, as far as I can see, a professor of psychiatry Wessely who has, I guess, been very seriously fucked over by his insane dad, who survived a German Endloesungslager (I must guess, but that is what many hundreds of his psychiatrical colleagues would say without hesitation about a man with his background); an obbvious case of seriously damaged personal and nasal goods as professor White, like Wessely evidently a wimp and a coward as soon as they are on their own; the Calder woman w-h-o t-a-l-k-s s-o s-l-o-o-o-w she sounds like an exceedingly dangerous moron, capable of anything; the Gerada bitch (I believe mrs. Wessely herself, but am not sure), evidently a very sad and serious case of complete medical incompetence combined with grave malice and pseudologica fantastica ....

... in brief: I got enough inspiration to psychoanalyse the lot of these stunning human intellectual and moral freaks, but alas I have too little energy and too much pain for the moment, while it also is far too warm for me to start feeling bearable.

In any case, if "the face is the index to the mind", the main speakers in the above pair of videos have tiny or twisted minds.

3. The Ultimate Machine:

In case you liked none of the above and - by the way - also in case you did, since it takes just 7 seconds to see, savour, and comprehend, here is Claude Shannon's and Marvin Minsky's

incidentally providing serious advice as to what to do when offered CBT or GET. (There are quite a few more pf these machines on the net, but this seems to be The Original, from ca. 1952.)

P.S.  As indicated in the title, I can effectively do very little on days with temperatures like today, also from earlier experience. So the PPS still applies:

P.P.S. It may be I have to stop Nederlog for a while. The reason is that I am physically not well at all, and it seems a heath-wave is coming, which is the type of weather I can't handle well. I don't know yet, but if there is no Nederlog, now you know the reason.

"Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!
"

(*) Perhaps I should explain the phrase "because most videos I find slow, boring or uninteresting, and hardly ever instructive, whatever the subject":

The reason is not that I am omniscient, which I obviously am not at all, but because - it turns out - even in TV-programs meant to be viewed by an academic type of audience, most public videos and TV-programs address their audiences as if these are composed of at most 15 or 16 year olds, who also have hardly read anything after that age, for which reason any documentary about virtually anything seems to (need to) start with a rehash of the subject anyone not a total moron long since picked up from reading a good daily or listening to the BBC World Service (radio, where the spoken word tends to be much better than on TV) or leaving througha good encyclopedia.

In addition to which it should be noted that most humans are not natural born conversationalists at all, while e.g. pieces of written text tend to move by on ordinary videos at a rate of 1/10th or less of the speed with which I normally read.

But yes... some videos are good, just as some persons are intelligent and brave: it happens, but as really good things tend to happen: rarely.
