ME + me:  Film, poetry and mathematics, and beauty too

This is another brief piece mostly consisting of links, but interesting they are - and I think I crosspost this to the new forum as well, that's as yet a bit private but very nice and very promising (*) - and indeed my title is fully justified:

This is the link to the beginning of what seems a very good documentary about ME, with - parts from - interviews present of some of the key persons involved with the science of ME, like professor Malcolm Hooper and Dr. Judy Mikovits.

And here is a link for Dutch readers to a part of Hillary Johnson's Osler's Web site

To explain it for those without Dutch, I take the freedom of quoting the present opening words of Hillary Johnson's site:

"Sif-Sac, Wederom" and "Vaarwel Havik"

A talented Dutch-English translator, EVS, will be translating selected OslersWeb.com blogs and features for Dutch/Flemish native speakers. I extend a warm welcome to readers in the Netherlands and Belgium. It's our hope that these scrupulous, brilliantly-done translations will help build solidarity among patients in the United States and Europe. To read the new translation of my latest blog, "Sif-Sac, Again," about the latest meeting of the American government's committee on ME/CFS, "Sif-Sac, Again," ("SIF-SAC, WEDEROM"), follow this
link . To read my farewell to William "Hawk" Reeves ("WAARWEL HAVIK"), former chief of "cfs" research at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, follow this link .

Hillary Johnson

And her Osler's Web site contains a lot of interesting things in English about and around ME and about her career - Rolling Stone and other journalism - and other writings.

That was the film and the ME - and now for poetry, mathematics and beauty:

This is an excellent piece by Joel E. Cohen on precisely what the title says - and its also real poetry and real mathematics (mind you!). It also has some quite amazing mathematical theorems, generalizations, patterns, and questions.

I wrote about the relation between poetry and mathematics here, in Dutch: Een klein beetje Principia Mathematica poŽzie (= A little bit of Principia Mathematica poetry), but Joel E. Cohen goes much further and deeper.

P.S. There is much more (*) I could say, also about forums, their ways and effects, but I won't, now.

8. Malcolm Hooper puts things together status 2010.

"Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!
     - (Shelley, "Prometheus Unbound")

(*) Except for some quite sad personal news, not fit for this place, and not about me personally but about someone I feel quite close to (for reasons that are rather deep).
