me+ME:  Good Things In Life - 1: Suzy Chapman + Radio Paradise

One should respect public opinion insofar as is necessary to avoid starvation and keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny.

-- Bertrand Russell

Let's throw in a Nederlog, just to show I am still around, and am still having problems with my eyes, that are being resolved, or so I do sincerely and strongly hope, but this seems the case. (And I did write '(mostly').)

So today I am writing about the Good Things In Life - 1, which is the start of a new series - which means I am not so depressed as to believe I need only one file to list the lot of what is good in life. (Actually, there is quite a lot that is good in life... provided you are healthy, and are neither starving, nor in pain nor in
danger: If so, it mostly depends on your own qualities of mind and character, and there is a lot to be enjoyed or to be interested in, for its sake, not your own, also, varying from the other sex (I despise PC language and PC folks!), music and mathematics to art, philosophy and nature, and lots in between, including good conversations, literature and honest, rational and reasonable people, in case you have the rather astounding luck to ever have met one: Don't despair, it may happen! Good things and good human beings are rare!)

Also - lest you are mistaken - I am speaking for myself, and for nobody else, and my judgments are evaluative rather than factual - though I do want to suggest that - ceteris paribus, at least, which incidentally is a very important concept I should write more about
(I am not kidding you: You and I are using it in almost every judgment we make! (*)) - the more intelligent you are, the greater is the probability that you will agree with me, supposing you have the same sort of assumptions as I have, and perhaps also similar experiences.

In any case, that last point is relevant for my first choice:

The last section only contains some videos from Youtube, that may amuse the intelligent and offend the stupid.

1. Suzy Chapman: Ms Chapman is the woman who made two of the best sites relating to the disease I have (M.E./C.F.S.) that I have seen:

       ME agenda (about M.E.)
Dx Revision Watch (about the DSM-5)

She has the great merits of being truly intelligent; of writing rationally and reasonably about the subjects she does write about (**); and of having done an enormous amount of truly difficult work, during the last 10 years or so, that no one else did, and probably no one else could have done better.

The reasons I put her first are mostly that I have M.E. and I do not know of a better advocate for people with M.E. than Ms Suzy Chapman (though I do know of some equally excellent ones: professor Hooper and Margaret Williams  (***)), and that I have seen Ms Chapman being treated in an extra-ordinarily bad, immoral and dishonest way by trolls, morons and sadists on patient-forums, where degenerates, scum and idiots thrive and are protected by the trolls who moderate these forums.

Ms Chapman really does not and never did deserve such treatment at all - and those who gave it to her deserve to become or remain ill with ME/CFS for ever, for all that I care: My goodness what sadistically sick and evil folks troll patient-sites for people with ME!!

Also, since that is what I do think: I am 62, a psychologist, a philosopher and a logician, with the degrees to prove it, and I have given up on ordinary folks: YOU are the willing tools, executioners, and pawns of the far cleverer degenerates who manage to manipulate, deceive and rule you, and if only the average human intelligence were merely Mensa-level or better, most of the major horrors of history need not and probably would not have taken place.

Besides, I despise liars and frauds.

2. Radio Paradise: I mentioned this before, on June 2, but having spent quite a few days in the dark now, being able to do little else than listen to the radio,
I'll mention them again: Radio Paradise - located in Paradise, California, whence the name - has no commercials (!!); has an intelligent choice of pop-music (mostly, but not only: I was pleased to hear Satie and Bach as well, for example); is well produced and well presented - and altogether I find it very nice and very well done.

In case you are interested, Radio Paradise is a lemma on Wikipedia, with information about it, from which I quote most of the first paragraph:

Radio Paradise is a listener-sponsored Internet radio station that identifies itself as an eclectic online rock radio" station. The channel differs from most FM channels and other Internet stations in that the music played is not limited to a specific genre, instead representing great variety. Radio Paradise plays different styles of pop and rock music, but occasionally other genres from jazz to classical to electronic music and world music. All of the styles are DJ-mixed, often with passages of several tracks played back-to-back (and faded between each other), chosen for their suitability or thematic relevance as opposed purely to random playlisting. Whilst Radio Paradise is a for-profit business, it does not broadcast commercials but is financially supported through donations from listeners.
There also can be found a link to an article in Linux Journal of 10 years ago, that explains some of the backgrounds.

3. Bits for amusement:

Bill Maher Stupid Politics (over an hour)
   - Stephen Colbert - Enjoy the police state (three minutes)
   - Bill Maher anti-pharma rant (2008) (six minutes)

    - Garbage: We're not your kind of people (4 min 55)

Not Your Kind Of People

We are not your kind of people

You seem kind of phony
Everything's a lie

We are not your kind of people
Something in your makeup
Don't see eye-to-eye

We are not your kind of people
Don't want to be like you
Ever in our lives

We are not your kind of people
Find when you start talking
There's nothing but white noise

Running around trying to fit in
Wanting to be loved
It doesn't take much
For someone to shut you down
When you build a shelf
Build a mummy in your mind
You can't sit still and you don't like hanging 'round the crowd
They don't understand

You drove by as I was sleeping
You came to see the whole commotion
And when I woke I started laughing
The joke's on me for not believing

We are not your kind of people
Speak a different language
We see through your lies

We are not your kind of people
Won't be cast as demons
Creatures you despise

We are extraordinary people

(*) Namely, because we all make judgments all the time to
the effect that we - probably - can rely on such judgments as we
do make, because we judge (usually at best half-consciously) that
lots of things, varying from our own ignorance to the current
temperature on the North Pole, are not relevant -
ceteris paribus -
to the probability or truth of such judgments as we do consciously

(**) More so than I, which is - I suppose - a matter of policy, at
least on my part: I tend to write sharply, because I am a
real philosopher and because I noticed extra-ordinarily few
people have the courage of their opinions, also in ´free states´,
that for that reason probably won't last long.

Also, Ms Chapman is not one who lacks that courage: She is just
being sensible, practical and useful, for her sort of sites are not fit
for my sort of - occasional - radicalness, that indeed I would avoid
mostly if only there were fewer frauds, fewer fools and fewer trolls on
patients-forums for people with M.E. / trolls for psychiatric
fraudulence and lies, or more clearly intelligent and educated folks
who have the courage not to lie, or at least the courage not to act
as if they do not exist at all as soon as the going gets just a little rough.

Finally, having mentioned intelligence: I have met very few
in the context of M.E./C.F.S. who come close to Ms Chapman -
which these postmodern days is a huge problem, since one just
cannot write as a rational, informed and reasonable person these
days on just about any social forum without being 'corrected' by
hordes of anonymous irrational, ignorant, demeaning trolls,
morons, liars, impostors and god knows how many idiots,
ignoramuses, liars and cheats, who all can peddle their bullshit
without any problem with the rest of their likes, who are in solid
unthinking, uncivilized, uneducated majority everywhere, and who
all thrive with their perversions in blissfull anonymity.

And so I saw Ms Chapman being persecuted by a horde of nitwits who
blamed her for writing on a patients forum with materials these
sadistic assholes claimed were... 'too difficult' for their brainfogged
        brains, what with their disease!

So here we have one healthy person, namely Ms Chapman, who is
working very hard to help ill people to be protected from the very
dangerous DSM-5, while some 5 to 15 sadists on patients sites scold
and oppose her for writing about the dangers that threaten them,
on the specifically given ground that the complainers are
themselves too stupid to understand Ms Chapman's material (that
are not difficult because of her making them so!), and that 'therefore'
she should  not be writing at all on patients forums.

I am sorry, but this struck me like a bunch of black men and
women screaming at Martin Luther King Jr. that he should shut up
defending black people, because else the KKK might savage them,
and anyway his language was far too diffficult for the likes of them
to understand, so he better fuck off forever.

This was in 2010, on Ms Carters site, which is the site for crazies,
CDC-trolls, and neo-nazis who pretend to have ME. I have decided
to give up on evident sadists and the morons and moral degenerates
who do their biddings, and I will only write about what concerns
myself (and that is a completely uncommon individual case).

Indeed, I should not have engaged with the average degenerates:

Give an ordinary man or woman anonymity or a guarantee of being
not persecuted, and in most cases you'll find a sadist or terrorist
under the outer layers of lies and hypocrisies. (That is 'the secret'
of the successes of Hitler, Stalin and Mao: The eager and proud
beastliness with which ordinary men serve their Leaders, Countries,
Religions or Ideologies, that probably also will destroy human
civilization if this level of animal stupidity and loyalty, that also
characterizes hyenas, cannot be bred out of the species real fast.
Or perhaps Huxley's Brave New World is the human future, after
the collapse that seems to threaten the West and the world, and may
give hegemony to the Chinese CP, in the end: They owe most resources
in the world; owe effectively the US, moneywise; and have by far the
        largest army.)

(***) I probably learned most about M.E. from professor Hooper's
writings, that are very fine indeed, and must have cost him a lot of
work, to which Ms Margaret Williams seems to have made extensive
contributions, and I owe both a lot of thanks at the very least.

My reason to select Ms Chapman for special praise is that she does not
have an academic education (from choice, not from lack of abilities nor
from lack of qualifications) but has done a lot of very difficult work
and in my opinion very important work, notably relating to the DSM-5
and the various ICDs, very well indeed, which I was pleased to find that
no less a person than Dr Allen Frances, the chief editor of the DSM-IV,
publicly testified to, in several of his columns.

Also, her sites are really well done, and are as such a rarity in
M.E.-land. (There are a few more, of which the best for ME-patients
is The Hummingbird's Foundation for ME and Invest in M.E.)

Corrections, if any are necessary, have to be made later.
