me+ME: Surfacing from programming + Generalities + Projects

As I said in the previous Nederlog: I am around, and actually was a little less wasted the last few days, which I then spent to do some (around) programming, which is something which interests me and that I like, but for which should not feel too wasted or "fatigued", for then it just doesn't work.

1. Surfacing from programming

So I looked a little more into programming, notably in

[Smalltalk]

and especially into

Squeak and Amber

The [Smalltalk] link is a good link for Smalltalk related links, with links to forums of various implementations, also for Squeak and Amber, which here are links to their official sites where one can also download these.

My basic reason is that Squeak - that I know since 2001 - has a new version 4.3 which is better than was, and even includes a Helpsystem that is useful, and that I may even do things for or with.

Then I had found Amber a while ago, I think via the Squeak developers list, which is interesting: A Smalltalk written in Javascript that generates Javascript. Unfortunately, I could not get it to run with nodejs on Windows XP, which is necessary to save and generate Javascript from Smalltalk.

Anyway... I'll probably do more with Squeak and with Javascript and I hope to get Amber running on my Windows XP. (But unless you know Smalltalk quite well, this is no realistic option, as it is now.)

And I intend to do more with and around Javascript.

2. Generalities

It still is a new year, and I have mostly given up on activities involving patients with ME, and plan to do more on philosophy, programming, logic and my site, and do not yet know how I want to continue Nederlog.

Nederlog was in Duch from 2004-2010, and then English in 2010 and 2011 because of the then new XMRV + English forums  for patients with ME.

But I have given up on forums, patients activism, and XMRV, mostly because I don't believe in the connection between XMRV (etc.) and ME/CFS, and because forums and patients activism don't work, since the tone and contents of the debate are mostly dominated by the stupid or the trolls, both anonymous and beyond reason and beyond responsibility.

I may return to writing Dutch in Nederlog, since my site and Nederlog were created to defend myself against the sick Dutch bureaucracy: If the patients can't get much going as group, at least this patient can defend himself.

But I also don't want to write extensively on Dutch politics, because there something holds as it does for patient forums: The debates are mostly by the stupid or by those having an agenda to manipulate the public.

So... philosophy, programming, logic and my site are what I intend to spend most of such energy as I get on, and I will stand mostly apart from ME, although I will continue to write about it, but not as frequently as before.

And there may be less in Nederlog, and less frequently, though I will keep using it as the main active part of my site, that informs on the site and on my own take on things.

3. Projects

So let me outline some projects I hope to do more on:

My site: I want to improve the general html, as outlined in Things still to be done on my sites, and I want to get some booktexts done, from the material that is there.

Philosophy: The texts will be mostly philosophy.

Logic: I want to revise the logic-section on the site and add and delete some.

Programming: I want to get something organized for Javascript, and do more with it. Some of it is good and interesting, and it is the language of the browser.

But then what I can do all depends on my health, so don't hold your breath.
