More about Multatuli

And now for something quite different, after two years of mostly ME related news.

This is only for readers of Dutch and concerns Multatuli (link in English), who was Holland's greatest writer, and whose seven volumes of Ideas are on line on my site with my extensive comments.

Incidentally... the Multatuli-part is one of the best read parts of my site, and indeed it is good, and unlike anything else anyone ever did with or for Multatuli. And since I am sharing a moment of personal pride, let me add in that same context that I am being read every day for several days by my readers: It is not as if I am totally outside society or human interest, even though it also is a fact that, mostly because the last 20 years I've gotten no help whatsoever while I am ill, I very rarely leave my house, and that nearly only for shopping, to stay alive.

To return to Multatuli, that incidentally means "I have suffered much", in one appropriate translation:

There is now, and has been since 2007, an edition of excerpts of my notes to Multatuli's Ideen (Ideas), that I have not provided an index for, and that I soon hope to complete, since the excerpts for my notes to Ideen 7 still have to be made.

One reason to mention this is that some seem to like these excerpts from my notes, but they were not very easily found on my site, and not well-indexed. They now are easier to find and better indexed, and I soon hope to finish the excerpts for my notes to Ideen 7 and upload these as well.

Finally, in the context of my above saying that what I did around Multatuli's writings is unlike anything else anyone ever did with or for Multatuli: The excerpts of my notes to his ideas are, by themselves and at present, 2.75 MB together, which is itself the size of one or two reasonably sized printed books.

They are also well written and give many of my own ideas about Holland, Dutch, human beings, society, education, and many other things - but all in Dutch, all unlinked by Dutch "literary scientists", I must assume because it is all so much better than anything they did for or around Multatuli the last 125 years, where his writings have mainly served as pretexts for them to lead parasites' lives as academically employed Dutch "literary scientists" supposedly busy with editing or studying his works.

For English readers who might be interested in Multatuli: Walter Pieterse is an English translation of the first part of a story of growing up in Holland that is woven through the Ideas, and again something about Multatuli I had to discover myself.

Anyway... I have today also uploaded most of the Multatuli-section again - the Ideen and the Excerpts, together rather a lot: ca. 30 MB - since it seems to be not in tune with what is on my hard disk, and now that the spectre of XMRV has been brought down I really have no excuse not to write more about philosophy and logic, which I therefore plan to do, that is, if my health permits it.

P.S. Corrections, if any are necessary, have to be made later.
