PS: ..the rotten disease this People suffers from: the LIE..

As it happens, I edited and annotated the Ideas by Multatuli, all 7 volumes and all ... ideas, bar very few. It's all in Dutch, but I just saw a typo I did not see for - eight or ten years, I suppose, what with ME, in a quotation of Multatuli in the index of ideas of volume 1 of the Ideas.

It's just one letter, but even so, and as it happens the quotation is also a good PS for what I wrote yesterday. Here are the source and quotation with the typo - "n" for "t" in "that" - corrected, in Dutch and English:

Conceptie IDEEN Uit Vryen Arbeid :
..'t Zal niet gezegd worden dat niemand de ziekte aantastte,
de rotte ziekte  waaraan dit Volk lydt: de LEUGEN.
Ik zal doen wat ik kan..

..It will not be said that nobody attacked the disease,
the rotten disease this People suffers from: the LIE.
I will do what I can..

"And thus it goes..." - ME in Amsterdam (in Dutch).

P.S. I have uploaded the corrected index and now also have included a Dutch explanation that should help many Dutch academics.

As it happens, these volumes in my edition with my comments are collectively by far the most read parts of my site, over the years.

And indeed this also is one of the things I am pleased to have done, and that nobody did before, that is: annotate and comment Multatuli's Ideas, and probably no one will do again. Some perhaps, but not all, and certainly not in the way I did.

Finally, it is what I intended - or more - and indeed what I had agreed in principle to do for my M.A. philosophy in the University of Amsterdam, but then I was removed before being allowed to take it, because I attacked the disease,
the rotten disease this People suffers from: the LIE
by publicly asking 39 Questions about the qualities of education and government in the Netherlands.

"Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!
