ME + me : ME Time Travel

I keep being unwell, and even though today is a bit better, I have only two brief bits for you, and a reference to yesterday's "Mandarins with an IQ of 115", that should explain why I tend to be very little impressed with ME-patients who pose as activists, for I have been very active for over 32 years with ME, except that my activism, so to speak, "didn't do ME", but instead was very much concerned about the decline of civilization, the decline of education, and the ruining of the universities.

But check that out for yourself, if you keep in mind that I wrote these and other things while ill with ME, and while being very actively discriminated for it, year upon year, for I have been removed, thus or so, three times from the University of Amsterdam, each time while being ill, and always "because of your outspoken published ideas", as its Board of Directors wrote me (*) and because nobody could beat me in spoken or written argument.

I will say a little more about this in my P.S. but now turn to the two brief items of today

1. ME Time Travel
2. The Journal of Retrovirology isn't there (quite)

As you will see, I owe both subjects to the creativity of others.

1. ME Time Travel

The following I found on LaurelB's site Dreams at Stake (subtitled: A journey of hope through severe ME/CS) and is quite interesting if you never saw it before, as is true of me, and dates back to 1996:

The above two links are on Youtube, and Laurel also gives a link to a vimeo-version in one part.

It's an American TV-program from 1996, that seems to have been related to Hillary Johnson's "Osler's Web" that then appeared, and is repeatedly mentioned, while Johnson herself appears also repeatedly in the program, with speaking parts also.

It's interesting for various reasons. Here are Laurel's, with which I concur:

I think what struck me most about the segment was the fact that, though the story aired 14 years ago, virtually nothing has changed since that time. For decades now, the CDC has continuously belittled and essentially ignored this very serious and widespread disease. Meanwhile, millions of those stricken with ME/CFS have continued to suffer and watch their lives slip away, and millions more worldwide have become newly diagnosed. Nearly 30 years since the original outbreak, there are still no viable treatments, very little funding, and a serious lack of answers. How far would we be now in research and treatment had the Centers for Disease Control simply done their job at the onset?

Precisely! And the more so because, as the video makes clear, doctors Bell, Cheney and De Freitas did a lot to move the CDC in the right, rational and reasonable direction. Another reason it is interesting is that at the end of the video, there is an interview with a highplaced government official at the time, also a medical doctor, who rejects the CDC-position and himself can be seen as saying that his guess for a causal explanation of CFS is "a retrovirus".

This leads me to my second subject:

2. The Journal of Retrovirology isn't there (quite)

Clearly, the Journal of Retrovirology exists, but its editor Dr. Kuan-Teh Jeang isn't there. Or more precisely: He exists as well, but not to be interviewed by Mindy Kitei, in pursuit of a question she earlier posed and that I briefly wrote about here: Alter study and LP nonsense. Under the last link you'll find Ms. Kitei asking the CDC and she also asked the Journal of Retrovirology, in the person of its editor whom I just mentioned.

Indeed, Ms. Kitei asked a number of good questions that you'll find under the link to her site, under today's date, but Dr. Kuan-Teh Jeang politely declines to answer her questions, and refers her instead to some governmental institution.

Apart from that, Dr. Jeang's statement says:

"Retrovirology always evaluates all materials submitted to the journal through a stringent peer-review process. The confidentiality clause prevents us from providing any details of the peer-reviews."

Up to a point, that is fair enough, and indeed I (sort of) can understand Dr. Jeang - but he should know now that any material from the CDC when offered for publication to the Journal of which he is the editor does come with a risk that very relevant data for the research they want published and peer reviewed is simply ommitted - and moreover, is ommitted presumably without Dr. Jeang's peer reviewers having been informed of that fact.

This is rather a lot like a District Attorney who conveniently "forgets" - that will be the excuse, if any, I imagine - to mention that the guy he wants a plea bargain for in fact is his halfbrother and did owe the gun someone was murdered by.

But as I said: I can (sort of) understand Dr. Jeang, who surely has the interests of his journal and himself in mind, and indeed is himself not personally responsible for CDC-officials ommitting information they should have mentioned.

Editors of scientific journals who receive CDC-materials:

Beware of ommissions, lies and misleading statements, if you please!

P.S. In case you are interested in M.E. and haven't seen the above twopart series, you should: It really is interesting, though it is disquieting to see how much time has been wasted and, by implcation, how much lying, deceipt and governmental malpractice has been produced by the CDC concerning ME/CFS.

And those who are looking forward fondly and impatiently to my notes to Real science & real psychology = joy, especially after having read Mandarins with an IQ of 115, have to have a little more patience.

Yea, indeed I may translate another one or two first, before arriving at my notes to Real science etc! And if and when I do, my reason is to anticipate on a true public publicatory slashing of many incompetents who destroyed my chances and who wilfully ruined my life and who intentionally caused over 20 years of nearly continuous pain, because they personally chose, as Revolutionary Students or staff, or as corrupt Labour Party topdogs, to be whores of reason and parasites in the universities, while being evidently intellectually incompetent but also being incredibly greedy, phony and hypocritical, or else because they personally chose, as corrupt Labour Party topdogs, to serve the Amsterdam drugsmafia rather than to uphold the law. (*)

Finally, I myself am looking forward fondly and impatiently to dr. Alter's paper, and predict confidently that it will change things in ME-land, whether it is basically unaltered in implications (as seems the probability) or whether it is altered in implications.

P.P.S. It may be I have to stop Nederlog for a while. The reason is that I am physically not well at all. I don't know yet, but if there is no Nederlog, now you know the reason.

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?

Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

(*) At this point you may ask: Why didn't you sent a lawyer?

Well, reader... because most competent lawyers in Amsterdam work for the Amsterdam mafia; because I have no money, and the amount of dole I have to live from a month is barely sufficient to buy an hour of a somewhat decent Amsterdam lawyer - legalesely speaking, apart from the Amsterdam mafia and his/her morals; because the man who tried to gas me and had my life threatened still lives in Amsterdam like a rich and very powerful pasha; because there are since more than a decade many drugsrelated murders in Amsterdam that NEVER are solved in any way; because I am really ill and in pain; because the Dutch REALLY don't care what happens with a rare individual like me: If I am so clever, I ought to have made myself into a media-celeb if I want to be heard (is the Dutch way of thinking); and finally because especially in Amsterdam everything is corrupt as in the Soviet Union: Everybody prominent with power is a member of the Dutch Labour Party, from judges and district attorneys to policemen, mayors, the majority of the City Council, the professors and board of directors of the University, all leading civil servants, the so called Ombudsmen, yes: probably even the Amsterdam pimps, whores and mafiosi are Dutch Labour Party members, for that is about the only way to get anything done in Amsterdam.

And besides... the vast majority of the lawyers I have spoken to were totally incompetent, both intellectually and morally (the last seems to be a conditio sine qua non to be a lawyer, since the time of Swift at the latest), and they are not interested at all in seeing the Dutch law maintained, especially not for one as abnormal as I am: A lawyers does law these days like a modern doctor does medicine: For money. Anybody who thinks differently is, in the eyes of the vast majority of Dutch lawyers and medical doctors at least, slightly or quite crazy: You are intelligent and you do not deceive, posture and intrigue for money?!?! You must be out of your mind, by Dutch conceptions of what is humanly and morally important, and besides: Then it is your fault for being discriminated. And anyway: you shouldn't think and act and write and speak as if you are any better or smarter than anybody else! Real Dutchman hate that! Nobody has the right to be any better than anybody else in The Netherlands, unless already a media-celeb or sportshero!

Incidentally, since the end of WW II nobody except me has been removed from any Dutch university  "because of your outspoken published ideas" and for asking questions; my "outspoken published ideas" and questions have all been found in 2008 by an extensive Parliamentary Investigation to be wholly correct and justified - but even so, nobody in Holland cares, for I am not a Dutch celeb, not a Dutch media-personality, not a Dutch politician, and what I think and write, and thought and wrote, is just a minority opinion, that would be very painful for leading Dutch Labour politicians (and non-Labour politicians: ALL Dutch politicians have since 40 years knowingly served the interests of the Dutch drugsmafia), and I am merely ill, invalid, and far more intelligent than is good or indeed permissible for any Dutchman.
