me:  Should I've been a comedian?

Well, I am still not well, and more like yesterday and have a little more from the same source as yesterday about the the human predicament. And indeed, I have dealth with that issue often, but I suppose I didn't do it funnily enough, or did it too sarcastically and that's just not nicely respectful, as you may know.

Bill Maher - didn't know he existed, till yesterday - isn't nicely respectful either, but then the truth about humans often isn't:

And here is Maher on the political situation in the US, with some Young Turks also

in the context of which there is this elitarian analysis by Maher - who presumably wasn't removed from an American university for saying awful disrespectful and elitarian things like 39 questions, that still are considered a major crime in the University of Amsterdam:

Should I've been a comedian? To answer the question of my title: No. I've neither the talent or the taste and am not a histrionic person, nor someone who likes performing for a public, though I am a good speaker.

It's not my kind of thing, but it is interesting to note that humorists and comedians can get away with a lot others can't, basically because of the packaging and the context.

Incidentally, I have quoted him repeatedly before in Nederlog, but then he is an inspiring and funny man, who in his time also performed publicly, reading out or declaiming his stuff, some 20 centuries ago, namely Lucian

PHILOSOPHY: But what's your job? There's no harm in asking that.
LUCIAN: I'm an anti-cheatist, an anti-quackist, an anti-liarist, and an anti-inflated-egoist. I'm anti all the revolting types like that - and there are plenty of them, as you know.
PHILOSOPHY [smiling]: Well, well! You're quite an anti-body, aren't you?
LUCIAN: I certainly am. You can see why I've got myself aso much disliked, and why I'm in such a dangerous situation. Not that I'm not an expert pro-body too. I'm a pro-truthist, a pro-beautician, a pro-sinceritist, and a pro-everything that's pro-worthy. But I don't find much scope for exercisting my talents in that direction, whereas thousands of people are always queuing up for the anti-treatment. In fact I'm so out of practice as a probody, that I dare say I have lost the knack of it by now - but I'm a real expert at the other part of my profession.
PHILOSOPHY [seriously]: That's bad. They're opposite sides of a coin, as it were. So don't specialize in one at the expense of the other. They should merely be different aspects of the same fundamental attitude.
LUCIAN: Well, you know best, Philosophy. But I'm so constituted that I can't help hating bad types and liking good ones.

Which brings me to the subject of the Dutch parliamentary elections (and by the way: here is my take on Machiavelli's take on elections and related matters, incidentally, an often download and also translated instructive link), about which I wrote yesterday

Today are Holland's parliamentary elections, and as ever I did not vote - and one of the reasons why is that Bill Maher's analysis of his then President for nearly eight years Bush fits "my" President Balkenende to a t, except that Balkenende is a lot dumber and neurotic.

Well... there's some form of justice in this world, divinely ruled by Balkenende's and Bush's Christian Lord(s), on the topic of which see

In any case: Our Lord in his infinite mercy has halved the number of seats of Balkenende's Christian Democrats and him being a highly respectable, principled, honest, sincere type of guy he has already thrown the towel in the ring: No, he will not be in the parliament, nor leader of his party, nor anything else but PM until there's a new government.

In Holland this is called "taking one's personal responsibility" and "A Personal Tragedy", by all his political colleagues....

O and as I was on the topic... NONE of what's in the above links and none of what's in the following link

is allowed - in the interest of Your Health, and decency for All (respectful ones)- on The Renewed Phoenix Forums: ALL of it is 'disrespectful', 'inappropriate', 'impolite' language that is actively forbidden there ("moderated") or censored ("edited"), after it has been disappropriated ("forum's privilege").

But that was just a - very respectful: Beware Stupidity! - aside.

P.S. Anyway... it is quite striking, and a little hope giving, what Bill Maher can get away with in the department of humorous hometruth serving. I like it, but then I am a thoroughly disrespectful sort of man (when appropriate, that is ). Also in re the Dutch elections: Here is me on May 10, a month before hearing Bill Maher on the fine democratic situation in his country dedicated to such civil interests like 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness':

Be a real lying corrupt sadistic lying bastard and you'll be mayor, alderman, parliamentarian or minister real soon, even without having worked one serious day of your life, while knowing nothing than bullshit and formulating it brokenly and idiotically like a neurotic ass (our present PM Balkenende excells in this), and having no talents or tastes or real knowledge or abilities whatsoever except for getting rich by deceiving and hurting others:

There are no civilised Dutchmen who can make it to any position of any real power, for the control to all position of any real power is carefully guarded by the bastards who have fought their way to the top already, and only allow true and tested bastards of their own kind on their own level of governance:

Yes, it's all very disrespectful, in a quite respectable way (I think). And here is my Respectable PM, who allowed the last 10 years some 15 to 50 billion US dollars (10^9) turnover and throughput of illegal drugs in Holland, when campaigning, each year, that he could have stopped all these years by ceasing to act as a respecftul consiglieri of the Dutch drugs mafia, namely by legalizing it:

See my The Willing Executioners of The Truth About Amsterdam - 1 - but then I am just a disrespectful sort of man, of course.

Hopefully more tomorrow, but if not it is because I am simply not well enough to write.

"Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, forever!
